James Sparling is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (B.Sc. Geology - Advanced, 1984) and the Royal Roads University School of Business (MBA, 2003). He is a member in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. He has over 25 years of experience in exploration and mining operations, including broad based experience in base metals, gold and nickel exploration. James was part of a team which discovered four economic ore bodies, the team received the PDAC Bill Dennis Award in 2000, for Canadian Discovery & Prospecting Success. All four ore bodies were placed into production, with one, the 777 orebody in Flin Flon still operating. James worked as a Geophysical Crew Chief, Project Geologist, and Senior Exploration Geologist with Hudbay Minerals Inc. from June 1, 1994 to April 1, 2003. Prior to joining North American Nickel, he worked in various senior managerial roles for a number of Vancouver based resource development companies from 2003 to 2012.
